Correctional centres to return to Stage 1 restrictions state-wide

Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) has advised that, due to the continued low number of COVID-19 cases in Queensland, restrictions for correctional centres and community corrections offices will be relaxed state-wide.

Based on advice from Queensland Health, as of 12:01am on Monday 28 September, ALL correctional centres and community corrections offices in Queensland will revert to Stage 1 restrictions.

This means that official, cultural and legal visits can recommence at all correctional centres, work camps can recommence, and community corrections offices can continue to operate under their COVID-safe plan.

QCS has advised that the current health advice is that, where social distancing is not possible, a mask should be worn at all QCS facilities. QCS will continue to pay close attention to regular cleaning of frequently touched surfaces, as well as maintaining regular hand washing or sanitising, good cough and sneeze etiquette, and adhere to workplace COVID-safe plans.
