Sisters Inside up for national award

Brisbane community advocacy group Sisters Inside has been announced as a finalist in the 2023 Australian Human Rights Awards.

Sisters Inside is the only Queensland contender of 21 finalists selected from more than 260 nominations across five categories.

It has been nominated in the Community category “for outstanding work in relation to advocating for the rights of women and girls who are currently or have previously been in prison in Queensland, as well as supporting them to live safely and violence-free in prison and in the community when they leave prison”.

The award winners will be announced at a gala ceremony and reception presented by the Australian Human Rights Commission in Sydney on 8 December.
