Piper Alderman promotes 10

Piper Alderman has announced 10 promotions across the firm, including two in the Brisbane office, effective 1 January 2026.

Among those promoted include Kylie Maxwell in Brisbane, as a new Partner in the national Real Estate team along with another new Partner, one Special Counsel, one Senior Associate and six Associates.

Kylie joined Piper Alderman as Special Counsel in April 2019 and is a key member of the national real estate team, based in Brisbane.

With more than 25 years’ experience in commercial property law, Kylie has worked with a broad range of clients including seaport operators, developers, trust managers, shopping centre owners, insolvency practitioners, financiers, body corporates and private investors.

Kylie has expertise in long-term leasing tenure arrangements (including acquisition, sale and
subleasing arrangements) and associated collateral agreements.

Her practice spans commercial, industrial and retail leasing, property development projects, distressed asset sales, off-the-plan conveyancing and community titles scheme establishment, including staged developments and management rights.

Shannon Bryans has been promoted to Associate in the national dispute resolution and litigation team, which is also based in Brisbane.

Since joining Piper Alderman in May 2022 as office services assistant, Shannon has progressed to law clerk in March 2023, law graduate in June 2023, and lawyer in February 2024 – demonstrating exceptional dedication and growth.

Managing Partner and National Head of Real Estate Tony Britten-Jones said he was delighted to welcome Kylie to the partnership, taking the total national partner numbers to 87.

“Their appointments, along with the promotion of our new Special Counsel, Senior
Associate and Associates, reinforce the strength of our practice and commitment to building long-lasting relationships with clients,” he said.
