Nominations for the Queensland Law Society’s highest honour have opened for 2026, with members encouraged to recognise practitioners who have shown commitment to the profession and leadership in their field.
The President’s Medal is awarded each year to an individual at the height of their career, who goes above and beyond to uphold core values of the law.
This award recognises an experienced legal practitioner who has shown integrity, courage and responsibility – through commitment to continual improvement of both themselves and the profession.
Queensland University of Technology Professor Sharon Christensen, who is one of Australia’s leading property law academics, received this year’s award.
Upon receiving the accolade in February, Professor Christensen said she was deeply honoured.
“To me this award is recognition not only of the value of my personal commitment to maintaining high standards of legal education in law school and the profession but also recognition of the collective commitment of my colleagues, mentors and members of the legal profession who have shared and supported these endeavours over the last 30 years,” she said.
Nominees can come from a firm of any size, with the award based on peer recognition.
Those interested in making a nomination can now access the online form.
Nominations close 23 January 2026, with the recipient announced on 20 February 2026 at the President’s Dinner.
