Have your say on ‘off-the-plan’ consumer protections

The Queensland Government is seeking views on two matters relating to ‘off-the-plan’ residential property sales contracts, namely:

  • the use of sunset clauses by property developers (sellers) to terminate the contract, and,
  • early release of deposits to property developers (sellers).

To that end, the Government has recently released two surveys – one for consumers and the other for property developers.

The surveys are due to close on Wednesday 14 September 2022.

The consultation forms part of the Queensland Government’s Property Law Review, which the Queensland Law Society actively contributes to as a key stakeholder.
