Barry.Nilsson has announced 18 new promotions effective 1 January 2023, including seven Queensland-based appointments within the firm’s insurance and health practice.
Kingsley Grimshaw, Adrian Lewis, Liz O’Connor, Ashlee Bonanno and Venessa Jansen have been promoted to Special Counsel.
Kingsley Grimshaw
Kingsley’s core practice areas include professional indemnity, third party property damage, public liability and employment disputes. His experience also extends to managing files involving the defence of solicitors, financial advisers, councillors, quantity surveyors, engineers and conveyancers.
Adrian Lewis
Adrian has more than 18 years’ experience as an insurance lawyer and has acted for local and international insurers and insured professionals. Aside from his extensive experience in professional indemnity, he is also experienced in defamation claims and the defence of anti-discrimination complaints.
Liz O’Connor
Liz has more than 15 years’ experience in the insurance industry and has a particular focus on public and product liability claims. She also has experience managing workers’ compensation claims and personal injury claims, including orthopaedic, psychiatric, burns, brain and spinal injuries.
Ashlee Bonanno
Ashlee joined Barry.Nilsson as a graduate in 2012. She focuses on public and product liability and also advises on general indemnity and policy coverage issues. Ashlee acts for a range of clients including local government authorities, recreational and sporting associations.
Venessa Jansen
Venessa started working at the firm as a personal assistant in 2010. Her practice focuses on CTP claims, public and product liability and property damage. Venessa has acted in claims involving local government authorities, sporting activities, workplace incidents and occupier’s liability.
James Meehan and Isaac Rowe have been promoted to Associate.
James Meehan
James commenced work at the firm as a graduate. He has worked in a number of teams within Barry.Nilsson’s insurance and health, and family law practices, and has been involved in various matters in the firm’s professional indemnity and public liability teams.
Isaac Rowe
Isaac focuses on public and product liability, as well as property damage matters, particularly public liability claims under the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002. He also has previous experience working in in-house roles, including at a large national insurer.
