2015 Queensland Law Society President and Ashurst stalwart Michael Fitzgerald has announced that he will retire from legal practice tomorrow.
“Tomorrow I will retire from legal practice after 40-plus years with Ashurst (and its predecessor firms in Australia and Papua New Guinea) and 3.5 years with Morris Fletcher & Cross (now Minter Ellison),” he posted on LinkedIn earlier today.
“I have enjoyed my time with these firms, Queensland Law Society and Law Council of Australia, and made many friends in those organisations and the wider legal community.”
However, he said he wouldn’t be “sitting home doing nothing” as last year he had been asked to take on the role of President of St Vincent De Paul Kenmore Moggill and this year he had taken on the role of President for the charity’s south-west region in the west Brisbane diocese.
He was also looking forward to holidays planned for this year, including Cape York and the Daintree, and South Australia.
