Career Moves: Shand Taylor Lawyers

Shand Taylor Lawyers have announced five promotions, effective 1 July 2023.

The promotions are Patrick Sherlock – Director (property and commercial), Charlie Hodgetts – Senior Associate (dispute resolution and insolvency), Annie Xu – Associate (wills and estates, commercial and business services), Emma Lewis – Associate (dispute resolution and body corporate) and Heath Burton – Associate (construction).


Patrick Sherlock

Patrick is a Director in the property and commercial team.  He has experience in a range of residential and commercial property transactions as well as advising on all aspects of property development and related areas of law including infrastructure delivery and charging, the establishment of body corporate schemes, and development funding arrangements.


Charlie Hodgetts

Charlie’s key area of practice is advising clients in insolvency and debt recovery disputes. He is experienced in matters involving liquidations, bankruptcies, receiverships, voluntary administrations and deeds of company arrangement. Charlie regularly advises insolvency practitioners such as liquidators, administrators and bankruptcy trustees as well as individual and company creditors and company directors on a variety of insolvency-related issues.


Annie Xu

Annie has a vast range of knowledge and experience in the commercial space, acting in various matters including business and company acquisitions and disposals, business and asset structuring, preparation of shareholder and unitholder agreements, and general property development advice. Annie also assists in the estate planning team and has experience in estate administration, preparation of wills, preparation of trusts and preparation of enduring powers of attorney.


Emma Lewis

​Emma advises clients in broad range of commercial and general litigation matters, particularly in employment, intellectual property, defamation, debt recovery, insolvency and property disputes.  She has acted for clients in both state and federal courts as well as tribunals and commissions. Emma advises both employers and employees on workplace issues. She also provides clients with contractual-related advice relating to protection of intellectual property, confidential information and restraints of trade.


Heath Burton

Heath is an associate in the building, construction and infrastructure team. He deals in all areas of construction law, with a particular focus on dispute resolution and litigation. Heath has experience in all courts and tribunals in Queensland.
