Call to Parties campaign launched

The 2024 Queensland state election is just over 14 months away – and Queensland Law Society (QLS) is already gearing up to make the profession’s voice heard in the lead-up to polling day.

The Society has launched its 2024 Call to Parties (CTP) campaign, with feedback being sought from the Queensland legal profession on the issues that should be included in the QLS Statement.

The CTP underpins the Society’s dedication to staying ahead of the curve when it comes to advocacy and working with our members to advance good law for the benefit of our profession and the public.

The 2024 CTP will call on candidates to consider and deliver commitments on the priority issues our members have identified during the consultation process. It will also reiterate outstanding calls from our previous CTP statements.

Members are being invited to share their thoughts via an email directly to QLS on its CTP webpage, officially launched today.

In September and October, a series of QLS focus groups will also be held online, with more information to be released soon.

Members of the profession will also be invited to provide input on a consultation draft of the CTP once it has been approved by Council in early 2024.

Following this draft consultation stage, the final Call to Parties Statement will be approved by Council for publication and distribution in or about June 2024.

Once the CTP is made public, QLS will publish any responses received on the CTP webpage, giving members the opportunity to review these in the lead-up to polling day.

Visit the CTP webpage to have your say and find out more.
