Liability was the topic which the Queensland University of Technology mooting team of Laila Bowden, Jessica Dixon and Darcey Lee addressed in the recent Baker McKenzie National Women’s Moot in Sydney.

Held from 28 September to 1 October 2024, this year’s moot problem required students to address the accessory liability (or not) of two directors under the Corporations Act and the tort of deceit.

After three successful preliminary round moots, QUT progressed to the semi-finals where they narrowly missed out to the University of New South Wales.

Jessica received the Best Oralist Award for the preliminary rounds.

The team was coached by QLS Member Associate Professor Lucy Cradduck.
