Twyford reappointed as QFCC leader

Legal practitioner Luke Twyford has been reappointed as Principal Commissioner of the Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC) for a further three years.

First appointed in December 2021, Luke has more than 20 years’ experience working in child protection reform, youth justice and governance.

In the role, he will also continue to chair Queensland’s Child Death Review Board.

Luke said the QFCC was fundamental in improving systems that kept children safe.

“It is an incredible honour to be able to continue in my role. To be asked to review the deaths of children, and to amplify the lived experiences of children and families is an incredible obligation that I take seriously,” he said.

“Over the last three years the Commission and Board have transformed into collaborative regulatory bodies focused on providing expert advice on complex social issues.

“I will continue to advocate for the safety and wellbeing of children and families in our state, including our most vulnerable.”
