QLS Council election scheduled in 2025

Queensland Law Society members should be aware that a council election will be held later this year.

QLS is governed by an elected council of 12 members, with an additional council member appointed by the Attorney-General. Councillors are elected for a two-year term with elections held biennially each September in every odd numbered year.

The current council has approved the following key dates for the 2025 calendar year:

  • Monday, 8 September – Notice of QLS Council Election
  • Wednesday, 17 September – Nominations close at 4pm, candidates and polling confirmed
  • Thursday, 25 September – Voting opens
  • Monday, 13 October – Voting closes at 4pm
  • From Tuesday, 14 October – Election results published
  • Wednesday, 3 December – QLS Annual General Meeting at 5pm
