QLS reflects on reconciliation theme

As part of National Reconciliation Week, Queensland Law Society hosted a special lunch at Law Society House on 26 May to reflect on this year’s theme, Bridging Now to Next, which brought together staff and community members in a spirit of learning, connection and reconciliation.

We were honoured to be joined by Uncle Terry Stedman, a respected Elder, and Kirstie Smith, a First Nations lecturer at Toowoomba UniSQ.

Both are members of our First Nations Consulting Committee.

The lunch was an opportunity for QLS staff to come together in meaningful conversation, reflect on our personal and professional roles in reconciliation, and consider how we can continue bridging the space between intention and impact, between now and next.

First Nations Cultural Outreach Strategy 2025-30 update

In spirit of reconciliation, we are pleased to announce the First Nations Cultural Outreach Strategy has been approved for another five years 2025-30, starting on 1 July 2025.

The renewed strategy builds on our existing commitments and efforts to increase First Nations representation within the legal profession and foster cultural capacity within the QLS and the broader legal profession.

National Reconciliation Week officially concludes today, 3 June 2025, which is Mabo Day. Share with us how your firm celebrated NRW by emailing cos@qls.com.au
