Australia’s innovative approaches to addressing family violence have been highlighted on the world stage today.
Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA) Chief Justice William Alstergren gave the opening address at the Ninth World Congress on Family Law & Children’s Rights in Cambridge, England.

Speaking to an international audience of judges, lawyers, psychologists, and other experts working in family law, Chief Justice Alstergren presented It’s time for change – innovative approaches to deal with family violence, detailing how the courts had improved proceedings through structural, legal and cultural change.
Other Australian judges and family law experts, including FCFCOA Senior Judicial Registrar Anne-Marie Rice, will speak at the three-day congress, which runs until Wednesday.
