Chris Holland’s admission day was extra special as it marked the end of years of study, and he got to share the career milestone with his partner.

The Sunshine Coast lawyer was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland along with his partner, and law graduate at McInnes Wilson Lawyers, Eliza Foster on 28 July along with about 100 others during four sittings at the Banco Court in Brisbane.

“The most memorable point was the opportunity to be admitted on the same day as my partner, Eliza Foster,” Chris, who works at Axia Litigation Lawyers, said.

“It also marked the end of a long journey for me, having studied for five years and four of which I worked full-time. It certainly wasn’t always easy balancing those commitments, but standing in the Banco Court, it really hit me that the hard work had paid off.

“I’ve always been drawn to problem-solving, especially in situations where the answer isn’t immediately clear. I’ve also had a strong interest in how businesses operate and so naturally I was drawn toward civil litigation. I enjoy the challenge of untangling complex issues and finding the practical solutions. Law felt like the place for me to do that.”

Eliza said it was a great honour and privilege to be admitted as a lawyer last week.

“I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey and look forward to contributing meaningfully to the profession,” she said. “Sharing the experience with Chris made the day all the more special.”

Chris asked Senior Associate Shane Ulyatt from Axia Litigation Lawyers to move his admission.

“Shane has played a significant role in my development both professionally and personally,” Chris said.

“From early on in my career in the law, he’s been incredibly generous with his time and knowledge. I wouldn’t be where I am without his guidance, and it felt right to have someone who’s had such an impact on my journey be the one to move my admission.”

Chris enjoys civil litigation.

Chris is excited to continue building his career in civil litigation. “I’m looking forward to deepening my expertise and continuing to learn from the people around me.”

Adam Brown, Managing Director of Axia Litigation Lawyers, said: “Chris’ official admission is more than a personal achievement – it’s a major asset to the legal profession in Queensland and a win for every future client he’ll assist. His dedication, talent, and humility set a powerful example for others in the legal community.

“We’ve had the privilege of watching Christopher grow into the role he was destined for. While studying law, he worked alongside our team as a paralegal – learning, contributing, and proving his commitment every step of the way. In doing so, he gained years of practical, frontline legal experience while completing his education – a combination that speaks to a level of dedication, drive, and focus that is truly exceptional.

“And Chris’ achievements don’t end in the office. He has also competed at a World Cup level in show jumping, representing Australia while working and studying full-time.

“His ability to balance a demanding professional path, elite sport, and meaningful relationships – including with his partner Eliza – shows that true excellence can be both well-rounded and deeply human.

“Christopher’s discipline and integrity embody the values we hold dear at Axia Litigation Lawyers. We’re honoured to call him our colleague — and proud to now call him Lawyer.”
