The Downs and South West Queensland Law Association (DSWQLA) will honour Past President Megan Mahon with Life Honorary Membership at its annual cocktail party next week.

Ms Mahon became involved with the association soon after beginning her legal career at Murdoch Lawyers in Toowoomba in 1998.

She has continued to support the association, which will celebrate with an event on 26 March. Ms Mahon also served as President of the Queensland Law Society from 2007 to 2008.

Her long service to the profession has been recognised through several major awards, including the WLAQ Woman Lawyer of the Year in 2009 and the Queensland Law Society President’s Medal in 2017.

The association will also farewell Magistrate Howden, whose regional service finished in December, and welcome Magistrate Goverdhan, who has started a two‑year posting in Toowoomba. The annual event traditionally acknowledges outgoing magistrates and introduces those newly appointed to the region.

The cocktail function is one of the DSWQLA’s key events, providing a networking opportunity for legal professionals across the region.

Tickets close on Friday, 20 March, for the event at The Other Bird, 2 Margaret Street, Toowoomba, starting at 5.30pm.
