Practitioners urged to renew their practising certificates

CEO Matt Dunn urged practitioners to renew their PCs and memberships this month.

Queensland Law Society CEO Matt Dunn is urging practitioners to renew their practising certificates as the 2026-27 renewals window opens today.

From 1 to 31 May, Queensland solicitors practitioners can log into the myQLS portal to renew their practising certificates online.

Anyone practising law in Queensland must renew their practising certificate during this time.

Mr Dunn encouraged practitioners to log on early and complete their renewal applications well ahead of the 31 May deadline.

“If you are a solicitor practising law in Queensland, then May is the time to renew your QLS practising certificate,” he said.

“We encourage you to log in and complete your renewal application as early as possible to avoid delays in issuing your practising certificate. At the same time, you can easily renew your QLS membership.”

Solicitors can also renew their QLS membership during the renewals process, to continue gaining access to exclusive services and benefits, such as a listing in the Find a solicitor search tool and directory on the You and the Law website.

“QLS membership offers so many benefits to practitioners. On the one hand, you can access free and discounted educational resources and events, and on the other you will receive the latest news and updates, and gain access to exclusive services such as ethical guidance and support,” Mr Dunn said.

“Renew your PC and QLS membership early and stay ahead of the game.”

QLS 2026 Renewals Guides have been updated to include step-by-step instructions on completing QLS practising certificate and membership renewals:

Renewals FAQs can also be found on the QLS website.
