The Federal Government will create a Fair Work Court to provide simpler, fairer and faster resolution of workplace disputes.
The new Court, announced at the Labor national conference today, will work with the Fair Work Commission and have specialist judges.
The move is a bid to improve the current workplace relations system, which is costly, complex and slow.
The government will consult on the design of the proposed court this year, including how it will work with the commission, how it will improve access to justice, and how it will better support workers and employers navigating disputes.
More details will be released about the consultation process.
Attorney-General Michelle Rowland said the government looked forward to consulting with workers, business and the legal profession on the final design of the court.
“The new Fair Work Court will create a streamlined dispute resolution pathway, drawing on the expertise of specialist judges to make it easier and simpler for workers and businesses to navigate the legal system,” Ms Rowland said.
