Emily McCarthy will lead the College of Law’s Queensland operation as the newly appointed Executive Director.
As co-founder of NewLaw firm Lexvoco, Ms McCarthy has also undertaken legal secondments throughout her career, including Clayton Utz and the Brisbane Airport Corporation.
College of Law Group CEO Marcus Martin said: “Emily is the perfect leader to spearhead the upcoming challenges that will be impacting the college and all PLT providers in Queensland.
“With Emily’s experience, skills and stakeholder network, we are looking forward to seeing the Queensland College continue to grow and benefit from her extensive learnings.”
Ms McCarthy’s career achievements have been recognised in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards as a finalist across multiple categories. That same year Lexvoco was sold to a London-based private equity firm where she continued to work for several years after the acquisition.
“Highly respected in the legal, professional services and technology fields, Emily is a voice of authority, especially in the legal profession, known for her fresh thinking and approach,” Mr Martin said.
“Her extensive skillset encompasses legal services, people management, HR and innovation in the legal industry.”
Ms McCarthy said: “I am incredibly excited to join the College of Law at this important time for the profession.

Former Executive Director Ann-Maree David has moved to a national role with the college.
