The Downs and South West Queensland Law Association has announced its 2026 Law Awards finalists, including a new award, today with trophies to be presented at the annual Law Ball next month.
The awards, now including Legal Support Staff Member of the Year, will be presented on Saturday, 31 October, at the Halloween-themed ball, along with Queensland Law Society 25-year membership recognition pins in Toowoomba.
Silver pins will be presented to Damian Black, Wonderley & Hall Director; Philip Stainton, Legal Aid Queensland Principal Lawyer, and Shane Charles, Charles Legal Group Managing Partner.
Award finalists are:
Lawyer of the Year: Leanne McDonald – Marlo Legal Consulting; Naomi Cox – Family Centred Law; Natalia Hutchison – Best Wilson Buckley Family Law.
Emerging Lawyer of the Year: Christina Barker – Maurice Blackburn Lawyers; Lailah Flett – VM Family Law; Shyann Boyd – Contested Wills & Estates.
Legal Support Staff Member of the Year: Cassandra Bate – Best Wilson Buckley Family Law; Nikki Akins – VM Family Law; Samantha King – Hede Byrne & Hall Lawyers.
