The Land Court of Queensland continued its regional engagement by taking its annual conference to Kingaroy last month.
Following events in Emerald in 2024 and Charters Towers in 2025, this year’s conference on 20 and 21 August had the theme Grown and Generated: A New Era of Rural Resilience.
At Kingaroy Town Hall, 85 attendees heard from a range of speakers, including Attorney-General Deb Frecklington, Kingaroy Mayor Kathy Duff, Justice Nicola Pain from the Land and Environment Court (NSW), and Professor Anthony Cassimatis from the University of Queensland.
They also received practical advice from presenters including Brisbane barristers Damien O’Brien KC and Patrick Nevard, and Brisbane practitioners Rebecca Hoare and Lauren Caldwell.
Highlights of the conference included the second annual informal dinner, at the local RSL, and catering for morning tea and lunch by the Kingaroy CWA.
The court is taking suggestions for the location of the 2027 conference.
