Last chance for LCA private legal aid survey

The 2026 Law Council of Australia Private Legal Aid Practitioner Survey is about to close.

The survey is intended for all legal practitioners who have been on a Legal Aid panel, or who have worked on Legal Aid matters in the last two years.

The survey will close today – Wednesday, 23 September 2026.

Under the National Access to Justice Partnership, the Commonwealth, state and territory governments have committed to develop a National Legal Assistance Workforce Strategy by 30 June 2027.

National Legal Aid and the Law Council have informed the survey’s design. It builds upon and supplements the National Legal Aid Private Practitioner Census 2024 Report.

The survey will help governments, the legal assistance sector and the legal profession to:

  • understand private legal aid practitioner experiences, challenges, and
    preferences;
  • improve recruitment and retention strategies; and
  • support workforce sustainability and planning.
