The Law Council of Australia is calling for nominations for its annual awards.
In the Business Law Section, the $5000 Baxt Prize is awarded to a lawyer aged under 35 who writes a published article which contributes to debate and analysis of a business law topic. Applications close on 30 September 2026.
Also in this section, the Regulatory Reform Fellowship offers up to $10,000 to encourage innovative, evidence-based research that strengthens the development of business law. It is aimed at early and mid-career lawyers. Applications for round two close on 30 September 2026.
In the Federal Dispute Resolution Section, there are three awards open for nominations.
The Young Federal Litigation Lawyer of the Year Award is awarded to a young lawyer who has made an outstanding contribution in federal litigation and dispute resolution. Applications close on 8 January 2027.
From the section’s Migration Law Committee, the Outstanding Contribution Immigration Law Award recognises individuals who have significantly advanced the legal profession. Applications close on 3 February 2027.
Also from the committee, the Migration Manager John Gibson AM award for the Young Australian Migration Lawyer of the Year recognises excellence by young lawyers in migration law. Applications close on 3 February 2027.
