National firm Moray & Agnew has acquired boutique Cairns commercial firm Devenish Law.
The acquisition, effective on 6 October 2026, strengthens Moray & Agnew’s presence in North Queensland, particularly in areas including commercial law, property, litigation and dispute resolution, and wills and estates.
Devenish Law Partner Stephen Devenish, Special Counsel Shane Devenish and their team are experienced in advising businesses, property owners, Indigenous organisations, not-for-profit entities and individuals throughout Far North Queensland.
They have specialist expertise in body corporate and community management law.
“Becoming part of a national firm with the depth and resources of Moray & Agnew will enable us to continue delivering pragmatic, timely and cost-effective legal services while providing clients with access to the broader expertise and national reach of Moray & Agnew,” Stephen Devenish said.
Moray & Agnew’s Queensland Managing Partner Michael Garbett said the Devenish Law team and clients were a great fit with the national firm’s existing practice out of Cairns and Brisbane.
Moray & Agnew has more than 850 staff, including more than 120 partners. It also has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Newcastle, Perth and Hobart.
