Toomey Family Law Principal Leisa Toomey received the Chairman’s Award at the recent 17th Wishlist Spring Carnival, where Sunshine Coast practitioners were among the crowd raising more than $415,000 for women’s health.
Local law firms Travis Schultz & Partners and Toomey Family Law supported the 4 September event with Travis Schultz, a founder of the event, taking on the role of emcee.
The Chairman’s Award is presented annually to recognise an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the event and Wishlist.
The award was presented to Ms Toomey in recognition of her long-standing support of the event and Wishlist. She has been involved with Spring Carnival in some way since its inception, with Toomey Family Law supporting the event as a sponsor since 2021.
Ms Toomey said she was honoured to receive the award.
“I’ve been very proud to support Wishlist and Spring Carnival over the years,” she said.
“It’s a wonderful event that brings the Sunshine Coast community together to raise much-needed funds for local health care, so to receive the Chairman’s Award is a real honour”.
Wishlist CEO Brendan Hogan said the carnival at Sunshine Coast Convention Centre had achieved its aim to deliver vital medical equipment and make health care for local women even better and close to home.
“The people of the Sunshine Coast and Gympie have shown once again they are the most generous people in the country – thank you so much,” Mr Hogan said.
“Wishlist is the Sunshine Coast and Gympie’s local hospital charity and proceeds from the Wishlist Spring Carnival go towards improving our five public hospitals.”
Wishlist Spring Carnival Chair Dan Sowden said the event continued to grow to match the increase in health needs across the region.
