New electronic filing for civil cases

A new electronic civil case management system for the filing of documents in the Supreme, District and Land Courts will start on 30 November.

eCivil will complement the wills and estates system released in November 2024, and manage the following court matters:

  • Court of Appeal – civil and criminal appellate proceedings;
  • Planning and Environment Court;
  • Land Appeal Court;
  • Certain proceedings before the Childrens Court of Queensland (Judge) i.e. Appeals (including pursuant to Child Protection Act 1999) and Originating Applications (Surrogacy, Adoption, Dispensation of Parental Consent).

This will include:

  • Applications for Supreme Court Bail;
  • Appeals to the District Court (including appeals pursuant to s.222 of the Justices Act 1886);
  • Applications pursuant to the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003.

Applications for Probate will continue to be lodged via the Wills and Estates service on the Online Services Portal. All other “wills and estates” proceedings (including family provision applications) will be managed in eCivil.

These digital services can only be accessed via the Queensland Courts and Tribunals Online Services Portal.
