Putting their best foot forward, QLS staff members and legal practitioners joined the sea of rainbow at Brisbane’s 2020 ‘Pride Stride’. Proudly showing their support in advancing the visibility, bravery, resilience and wellness of all LGBTIQ+ people.
Despite the 30-degree heat, hundreds of supporters skipped the sleep-in and showed up to walk from Newstead House to New Farm Park, kicking off a weekend of Pride celebrations.
QLS Relationship Manager Sheetal Deo said she was proud of the leaders in the legal profession who are “walking the walk” when comes to creating a more inclusive profession.
“It’s an opportunity to meet people with life experiences and journey’s different to yours and I think that’s so important in fostering awareness and understanding,” she said.
“You learn very quickly that we have more similarities than differences and I think that’s what facilitates inclusivity and connectivity.”
The Pride Stride is an opportunity for legal practitioners who are also members of the LGBTIQ+ community to unite and celebrate as one.
“We want our future lawyers and leaders to know their whole self is not only welcomed by the legal community, but also celebrated,” Sheetal said.
