Justice Darryl Rangiah has been announced as the keynote speaker for this year’s 9th Annual Pride in Law Address.
Justice Rangiah is scheduled to speak at Brisbane’s Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law’s ceremonial Banco Court at 5.30pm on Thursday, 4 December 2025.
PIL Queensland President Courtney Thorne said the association was delighted to again return to the Banco Court for the annual address to celebrate diversity, inclusion and allyship within the legal profession.
“We have the privilege of hearing from the Honourable Justice Rangiah as our keynote speaker. We encourage members of Pride in Law and the wider profession to join us for a night of listening, learning and networking,” Ms Thorne said.
PIL is a Queensland-based non-political group which aims to link the LGBTIQ+ legal community, their allies and to form associations bringing together the LGBTIQ+ legal profession across multiple disciplines.
It was established and funded by prominent Queensland solicitor Dean Clifford-Jones and his husband, Matthew, and launched at the augural PIL Address in the Banco Court on 17 November 2017.
In the past eight years, Pride in Law has established chapters in Western Australia, New South Wales, and Victoria; with its newest chapter in South Australia opening this month.
Pride in Law National Director Dean Clifford-Jones said in this year’s Proctor Annual that people who wished to identify as LGBTIQ+ and their allies needed advocates to stand together on gender equality issues, growing indigenous disadvantage and other intersectionality concerns.
“As a legal profession, we are stronger together; uniting with purpose and respect,” Mr Clifford-Jones said.
Anyone wishing to attend can secure tickets at Pride in Law – 9th Annual Address.
