HopgoodGanim Lawyers has announced the promotion of 25 practitioners, including four new Partners and seven Special Counsel appointments.
The firm’s mid-year promotion round will take effect from 1 July and also include many Senior Associate and Associate appointments within the team.
Aaron Alcock (dispute resolution and litigation) focuses on resolving disputes involving resources and energy projects, property, technology and intellectual property. His practice extends to contract disputes, trade practice actions, property disputes, leasing disputes and mortgage disputes in the Supreme, District and Magistrates Courts.
Anthony Pitt (dispute resolution and litigation, commercial property) practises in property-related litigation. His clients include property owners and developers, landlords, manufactured home park owners and bodies corporate. Anthony is regarded as a leading Queensland legal advisor to the manufactured home parks and land lease communities sector.
James Plumb (resources and energy) is a lateral hire and joins the firm’s resources and energy practice. His strong reputation in the oil and gas sector complements the team’s existing strengths across major projects, including in fossil fuels, renewables, hard rock mining and critical minerals. James is also a past Chair of the Queensland Law Society Energy and Resources Law Committee.
Tim Edwards (dispute resolution and litigation, digital assets) has extensive experience across litigation and disputes, insolvency and digital assets. He advises businesses working in, or interacting with, the digital assets space – particularly with respect to dispute resolution. Tim also assists clients with negotiating significant contracts and provides regulatory advice.
Adele Garnett (workplace and employment) advises clients in workplace relations, awards, enterprise agreements, policy and legislative interpretation, misconduct issues, training and development, recruitment, grievance and complaint management, and performance case management.
Briar Francis (intellectual property, technology and cyber security) has experience in the intellectual property and information technology fields, advising on a range of matters including software and intellectual property contract negotiation, due diligence and disputes.
Catherine Nufer-Barr (taxation) offers experience in a wide range of complex taxation matters, including income tax, capital gains tax, corporate tax, GST and state taxes (stamp duty, payroll tax and land tax) in all Australian jurisdictions.
Elizabeth Harvey (resources and energy) advises on all aspects of resources and energy law, with a particular interest in renewable energy. She is also an experienced native title and cultural heritage lawyer.
Hayley Harvey (dispute resolution and litigation, commercial property) provides advice on litigation and dispute resolution matters, including disputes related to commercial contracts, body corporate disputes, property disputes, manufactured homes and residential tenancy disputes.
Janelle Metcalf (commercial property) has experience with all types of residential and commercial property transactions, with a particular interest in rural and agricultural properties, manufactured home parks and land tax issues.
Rebecca Edwards (estates and succession) has a particular interest in superannuation, including self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs) and succession matters. She also has significant experience assisting clients with estate litigation, estate planning and estate administration.
