McInnes Wilson Lawyers has announced 16 Queensland-based promotions within the firm, effective 1 July.

Katie Worsnop (estate law) will step into the role of Principal in the firm’s wills and estates division.

Katie Worsnop

Katie focuses on all aspects of estate and trust litigation and estate administration. She has acted for executors, administrators, trustees, and beneficiaries and is particularly interested in complex wills, family provisions and power attorney disputes. Katie has dealt with trust litigation involving disputes between trustees, applications for directions, and the removal or appointment of trustees.

Laura Anderson (disputes and insolvency) and Nicole Fitzgibbon (family law) have been promoted to Special Counsel.

Laura is highly experienced in handling creditor-defeating transactions, claims, formal and informal appointments, public examinations and breach of director duty claims. She has experience in large-scale litigation and the conduct of commercial recovery, shareholder disputes, and insolvency matters, including misleading and deceptive conduct claims, contractual disputes, and misuse of intellectual property.

Nicole Fitzgibbon

Nicole can advise on all matters arising from the breakdown of a marriage or de facto relationship and is particularly interested in children’s matters.

Alex Fung (property), Clair King (disputes and insolvency), Dominic Ierna (corporate and commercial advisory, and real estate and projects) and Renee Davidson (compensation) will step into Senior Associate positions.

Alex Fung

Alex advises clients on all property matters, including commercial and residential, conveyancing, leasing and licensing, easements and restrictive covenants. With broad experience, Alex focuses on retail, commercial and industrial leasing and portfolio management, acting for landlords and tenants. He has also acted for many national and Queensland-based institutional and privately owned corporations.

Clair King
Clair King

Clair commenced work at McInnes Wilson Lawyers in 2019 and is stepping into her role as Senior Associate in the firm’s disputes and insolvency team.

Dominic Ierna
Dominic Ierna

Dominic has experience acting for a range of public and private clients, predominately in property matters, including conveyancing (commercial and residential), leasing and body corporate matters. He also has experience in corporate and commercial law, including acting in matters relating to business sales and shareholder disputes.

Renee Davidson
Renee Davidson

Renee has practised exclusively in personal injuries in Queensland and NSW jurisdictions, with a particular interest in medical negligence. She has extensive experience investigating and resolving claims involving acute physical and psychological injuries, and has resolved many claims through negotiation in the alternate dispute resolution process and the District and Supreme courts.

The firm has also announced nine Associate promotions – Georgia Krause (disputes and insolvency), Georgia McNamara (corporate and commercial advisory), Kahlia Smith (disputes and insolvency), Mark Batakin (compensation), Michelle Gunawan (litigation), Nick Wilson (business services), Roanne Mantino (litigation), Sally Asoyo (medical negligence) and Storme Louw (medical negligence).

Georgia assists various private clients across numerous industries and sectors. Her experience ranges from business and asset sales, mergers and acquisitions, general corporate and commercial matters, to structuring and asset protection, business and personal succession and shareholder disputes.

Georgia McNamara

Georgia joined the firm in 2021 and is stepping into her role as Associate in the firm’s corporate and commercial advisory team.

Kahlia Smith
Kahlia Smith

Kahlia commenced work at McInnes Wilson Lawyers in 2014 and will be working as an Associate within the firm’s disputes and insolvency team.

Mark Batakin
Mark Batakin

Mark has experience in various personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, assault, and general public liability incidents. While he primarily acts for plaintiffs, Mark has been engaged by both plaintiff and defendant clients and insurers. He also has experience in broader insurance claims, including property damage claims and consumer law claims.

Michelle Gunawan
Michelle Gunawan

Michelle focuses on employer liability and administrative law and has experience acting for insurers and employers in personal injury claims. She also recently gained experience working for the Royal Commission into robodebt, providing legal research assistance.

Nick Wilson
Nick Wilson

Nick has a particular interest in the passenger transport sector and has been involved in Queensland’s bus industry for more than a decade. He advises bus operators, industry associations and associated suppliers on various matters, including passenger transport service contracts with the government, formulating government tender responses, facilitating the sale and purchase of transport businesses, and commercial property transactions.

Roanne Mantino
Roanne Mantino

Roanne works within the firm’s insurance litigation team and draws on her extensive experience in the industry. She is proficient in the conduct of defendant insurance injury claims and in analysing disputed issues and considering risks. Roanne has also advised insurers and employers on Queensland and Commonwealth workers’ compensation. 

Sally Asoyo
Sally Asoyo

Sally has years of personal injury experience acting for plaintiffs and defendants, including in medical negligence, motor vehicle and workplace accidents, public liability claims and group actions.

Storme Louw
Storme Louw

Storme has acted for both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injuries. Her years of experience have involved medical negligence claims, motor vehicle accident claims, workplace accident claims, public liability claims and group actions.
