New s 260 notification – online form

QLS has launched an online form to allow law practices to provide notification to the Society pursuant to the requirements of Section 260 of the Legal Profession Act 2007 (Qld).

A legal practitioner is required to give written notice to the Society as soon as practicable after becoming aware that there is an irregularity in any of the practice’s trust accounts or trust ledger accounts.

An Australian legal practitioner is required to give written notice to the Society as soon as practicable after forming the belief, on reasonable grounds, that there is an irregularity in connection with the receipt, recording or disbursement of any trust money received by a law practice, of which the practitioner is not a legal practitioner associate.

The online form can be located on the Society’s website and here.

Files relating to the notification may be uploaded with the online form.

Please contact the Trust Accounts Team at managertai@qls.com.au or 07 3842 5908 with any queries.
