Australian Privacy Commissioner Carly Kind launched Privacy Awareness Week in Queensland yesterday by delivering a keynote address at the State Library in Brisbane.
In her speech, Powering up privacy in the data age, Carly spoke about how the promise of technologies such as AI must be tempered with practices that empower people to protect their data.

She then joined Queensland Privacy Commissioner Paxton Booth, Queensland Human Rights Commissioner Scott McDougall, and the Queensland Government’s Chief Customer and Digital Officer, Chris McLaren, on a panel to discuss the changing landscape of privacy and technology.
The launch event was presented by the Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC), which has published a range of resources for Privacy Awareness Week, 6 to 12 May.
