An improved Find a Solicitor search will feature on the Queensland Law Society’s new micro-site, You & The Law, next month.
You & The Law, which can be viewed by the public and practitioners, will both educate the public and direct potential clients to a solicitor that suits their needs.
QLS CEO Matt Dunn said the micro-site would greatly assist the public as the Society received about 300 calls from people every week looking for a solicitor.
“Some members of the public are often unsure what to do when they have a legal issue and how to get the right assistance,” Matt said.
“They call our Records and Ethics section looking for help, so we are hoping the new site will assist them as well. Also, they may not understand how the legal system operates and or how to get answers to their questions.
“The site will feature answers to these types of questions as well as news articles.”
Matt said You & The Law would be an enhanced member benefit.
“The aim is to reach Queenslanders over 18 years and educate them about the importance of seeking appropriate legal advice,” he said. “The site will direct them to solicitors in the correct area of law.
“Last year, there were more than 30,000 page views of the existing search. This new site will focus specifically on members of the general public.”
You & The Law will launch on 8 October alongside a dedicated community page on Facebook. Practitioners will be able to view the site, like the Facebook page and share feedback with the You & The Law team at youandthelaw@qls.com.au.
The team is also welcoming contributions from solicitors for the News section of the site. If you are interested in being published, please email youandthelaw@qls.com.au with your expression of interest and desired topic.
