Members thanked for contributions

Queensland Law Society President Rebecca Fogerty thanked Senior Counsellors, Accredited Specialists, committees and professional development presenters for their generosity and sense of duty at the QLS Members Christmas Drinks event last week.

More than 100 members attended the thank-you event at The Garden Room in Brisbane on 27 November.

QLS President Rebecca Fogerty welcomed guests.

Rebecca welcomed the guests, including new members, for contributing to the work of the QLS.

“Thank you for your precious contributions which extend well beyond the day job of law – as active contributors in your communities, serving in school, sporting organisations, charities, promoting events, volunteering – giving back in ways that have a profound impact,” Rebecca said.

“By engaging with your community, meaningfully and joyfully, you stand as a pillar, and through that, justice become accessible to all.

“Tonight I want to honour all of you, with your resilience, skill, professionalism, commitment to ethics and heart. I want to thank you all for upholding the values of our profession, and participating in our local community, and fundamentally, for making a difference.”

While Rebecca briefly reflected on the past year of her presidency, she also welcomed the incoming president.

“I also want to thank the wonderful Genevieve Dee who will be unstoppable in her role as 2025 QLS President,” Rebecca said. “She will be ably supported by the equally wonderful Peter Jolly as 2025 Deputy President and the Queensland Law Society Councillors, all of whom are motivated by a desire to serve you, our members and our community.

“We are united tonight because we love justice, and because we believe in service. Through service, we strengthen those precious bonds of trust that are at the heart of what we do.”
