The Bar Flies snatched back their title

The Bar Flies snatched back their title at the annual Queensland Law Society Mixed Netball Tournament in Brisbane on Friday night.

Reigning champions Subpoena Colada couldn’t find their form from last year, with Straight Outta Compo emerging as runner-up, and providing the best and fairest player for the tournament in Lovepreet Singh.

Of the 18 teams that sweated it out at Brisbane City Indoor Sports at Coorparoo, Sparke Helmore Lawyers won Best Team Name with Is This Billable?.

Straight Outta Compo spokesperson Sugath Wijedoru said Littles Lawyers formed a team to encourage teamwork and camaraderie in a fun and energetic way.

“We had staff who do not have much to do with each other on a day-to-day basis come together and click so well in our push to the final,” Sugath said.

“I would highly recommend participating in this event as a team-building exercise and to build pride in the firm.

“It was nice seeing the fun that the other teams were having as well. They were not taking themselves too seriously, which can sometimes be a challenge for lawyers!

“It was a well organised activity and it was nice to have other law firms cheering us on loudly during the final.”

McWinners Wilson (McInnes Wilson) may have finished fifth in Pool A but player William Reid put in an impressive performance. William dislocated his shoulder within the first five minutes of the first game, but managed to return from treatment at hospital emergency to cheer on the action and enjoy the post-tournament barbecue with his team.
