Upgraded Beaudesert Courthouse opens

The upgraded Beaudesert Courthouse was officially opened this week.

The 1969 building received a $19.4 million makeover which included the addition of dedicated domestic and family violence and vulnerable witness safe areas with direct access to courtrooms, secure waiting areas and video conferencing.

The building now also has secure custodial access to the adjacent police station and a modern security checkpoint.

The upgrade was designed to maximise energy efficiency via natural lighting, high-level glazing and solar power system.

A second shell courtroom will allow for expansion as the Scenic Rim population grows.

The Queensland Law Society called for improvements to court infrastructure in its Call to Parties statement.
