Legal Aid Queensland lawyers feature as finalists in all three of this year’s Women Lawyers Association of Queensland (WLAQ) Awards, announced this week.
WLAQ has named finalists for the Leneen Forde AC Woman Lawyer of the Year, Regional Woman Lawyer of the Year, and the Emergent Woman Lawyer of the Year, to be presented at the 47th Annual Awards Dinner on Saturday 25 October.
The finalists are (in alphabetical order):
Leneen Forde AC Woman Lawyer of the Year
Amber Buckland – Senior Executive Director, Client and Partner Services, Legal Aid Queensland;
Kristie Horne – Director and Principal Solicitor, Jurgensen Horne Lawyers;
Her Honour Judge Leanne Clare SC – Retired Judge, District Court of Queensland.
Regional Woman Lawyer of the Year
Helen Armitage – Senior Principal Lawyer SO, Legal Aid Queensland;
Leanne McDonald – Special Counsel, Kennedy Spanner Lawyers;
Rebecca Coulter – Associate, Maurice Blackburn.
Emergent Woman Lawyer of the Year
Alexandra Graham – Senior Lawyer, LawRight;
Alexandra Sanders – Criminal lawyer, Legal Aid Queensland;
Sophie Hill – Senior Legal Officer, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The awards recognise inspirational women in the legal profession – trailblazers who have shaped the legal landscape and inspired those following.
