Jesuit priest and Adjunct Professor at the Australian Catholic University’s Thomas More Law School, Frank Brennan AO will speak at the upcoming fundraiser for the Julian Wagner Memorial Fund (JWMF) and Australians Against Capital Punishment.
Also an Adjunct Research Professor at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, Father Brennan will speak on Why and How the Vatican now opposes the death penalty on 5 March at 5.30pm on level 9, Wesley House, 140 Ann Street, Brisbane.
Fr Brennan has written extensively on human rights issues, the rule of law and on matters of conscience and faith. He has been appointed by the Federal Government to a several positions relating to human rights and Indigenous issues.
He was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for services to Aboriginal Australians, particularly as an advocate in the areas of law, social justice and reconciliation.
The event raised funds to enable JWMF to support Australian lawyers and law students to volunteer with capital defence lawyers overseas.
Tickets are $55 and $45 for students.
