Colin Biggers & Paisley has appointed leading insurance partner Jennifer Robbins to its Brisbane office.
Ms Robbins joins the practice with her team of insurance lawyers, strengthening its financial institutions and directors and officers offering, and reflecting strong market appetite for specialist advice on complex insurance and financial lines matters across Australia and London.
The appointment follows the practice’s addition in late 2024 of Patrick Boardman and his team, together reinforcing a strategy to deepen financial lines and complex insurance capability in response to sustained client demand.
Ms Robbins is an experienced commercial litigator and complex insurance coverage specialist with more than 15 years’ experience. She has extensive specialist knowledge in financial lines claims involving financial institutions, D&O liability and professional indemnity.
Andrew Murray, Managing Partner at Colin Biggers & Paisley, said the appointments reflected the continued evolution of its national Insurance practice.
“The strength and growth of our insurance practice has been built deliberately over time, grounded in deep sector expertise and long‑standing client relationships,” Mr Murray said.
“Expanding our national insurance capability through senior and strategic hires is a natural step for the practice, ensuring we are well positioned to support clients as the insurance landscape continues to mature and evolve”.
Joining Ms Robbins at Colin Biggers & Paisley are team members including leading Special Counsel Mitchell Jensen, Senior Associate Tommy Evans and solicitor Matthew Ellish.
Her efforts advising clients on emerging risks and regulatory developments in financial technology complements the existing capabilities of the practice and continued investment in this sector of focus.
Gavin Creighton, Insurance Practice Group Co-Lead, said: “Jennifer’s appointment, alongside the addition of several highly regarded insurance practitioners, adds further depth to our Insurance practice and continues to strengthen the expertise, scale and capability of our national offering across complex insurance coverage and financial lines matters”.
Ms Robbins said she was drawn to the practice’s strong reputation.
“Colin Biggers & Paisley is well respected across the insurance legal market for its work with both Australian and London market insurers,” she said.
“I am thrilled to be joining a team that is committed to client excellence and delivery of outcome focused legal solutions”.
She said the move was a natural fit for her practice and the clients she advises.
“I am looking forward to collaborating with a team of highly skilled legal professionals in the Insurance group in my areas of focus, including insurance partners Patrick Cavanagh, Keith Bethlehem, Patrick Boardman, Michael Russell and the outstanding team working alongside them.”

Also further strengthening the insurance practice is the recent arrival of Senior Associates Bert Smallbone and Emily Wittig and solicitor Patrick Wallis.
The announcement follows the recent appointment of Colin Biggers & Paisleys Sydney based, Head of Pro Bono, Rebecca Dominguez, reinforcing the practice’s enduring commitment to pro bono work and community impact. Ms Dominguez brings more than 20 years’ experience in human rights, access to justice and law reform.
