Among the sea of purple T-shirts at New Farm Park on Sunday was a distinctive line of orange caps as HopgoodGanim Lawyers made a colourful show of support at the 2026 Epic Walk for DV fundraiser.
With walks also held at North Burleigh, Maroochydore and The Whitsundays, the weekend’s Epic Walk for DV has raised $362,000 so far for the Women’s Legal Service of Queensland (WLSQ) with donations open until Friday.
HopgoodGanim Partner and Head of Pro Bono Leanne Collingburn spoke to the lively crowd about the importance of an “inclusive walk” which would allow people to have conversations about the issue of DFV.
HopgoodGanim proudly had 59 colleagues and friends of the firm step out over the 5km course in Brisbane. They have raised more than $33,000 for WLSQ.
In a social media post about the event, the firm said: “HopgoodGanim are committed to supporting WLSQ, both through events like the Epic Walk for DV as well as our ongoing pro bono work to support women and children affected by DV.
“This is a cause incredibly close to the firm and aligned with our pro bono impact strategy, and while we wish these events weren’t needed, we are dedicated in standing alongside organisations like WLSQ and the Epic Walk team.
“The funds raised will help to provide free legal advice and support to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence in our community, helping improve access to services that provide safety and stability.”

WLSQ President Genevieve Dee also addressed the walkers, saying the fifth annual walk had received the most registrations and sponsors this year, with funds going to the helpline which was marking its 10th year in operation.
Ms Dee said the walk helped spread the message of “helping women have a safe place” when they left a relationship. Her firm, Lander & Rogers, also registered a group, including four-legged companions, for the walk.

The Law People also had distinctive green caps which mixed among the crowd, including a team from the Queensland Law Society, along the river boardwalk.
WLSQ thanked participants and supporters in a social media post, saying: “What an incredible weekend of awareness and generosity at New Farm Park, North Burleigh, Maroochydore and The Whitsundays!
“Thank you to WLSQ Ambassadors Brendon Mann and Brendan Smith for your dedication and congratulations on five years of the Epic Walk, We also thank the Epic team behind the event including Carlee Hay.
“Thank you to everyone who supported the walk, generously donated and raised vital awareness and funds for women impacted by domestic and family violence.”
