Stefan Luke appointed Partner in Carter Newell’s C&C team

Carter Newell has appointed Stefan Luke as a Partner in its corporate and commercial team, bringing more than 25 years of top-tier and in-house legal experience to the firm’s growing commercial practice.

Mr Luke joins the partnership having already established himself within the Carter Newell team as a consultant, advising clients on complex corporate transactions across Australia and internationally.

His appointment deepens the firm’s capability in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, private equity and corporate governance.

Carter Newell Chair of Partners Paul Hopkins said Mr Luke’s appointment reinforced the firm’s capabilities.

Mr Luke specialises in corporate transactional work, including public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity, equity capital market funding, cross-border transactions and commercial contracting.

He has experience in a range of industry sectors, including data centres, energy and resources, major infrastructure, industrial, food and agribusiness and entertainment industries.

His in-house experience is a distinguishing feature of his practice. Mr Luke has served as General Counsel for data centre businesses and has secondment experience with major resources entities as Legal Counsel, advising on legal aspects of both ongoing businesses and on greenfield development projects.

“My focus is on being a genuine partner to clients, understanding their commercial objectives, the risks they face, and the industry dynamics shaping their decisions,” he said.

“That means providing advice that is practical, targeted and directly connected to outcomes.”
