Human rights commissions join forces to present Brisbane seminar

The Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) is celebrating its 40th anniversary by partnering with the Queensland Human Rights Commission (QHRC) to bring its free national seminar series to Brisbane.

The Answer is Human Rights on 19 May will feature a panel of leading national and local human rights advocates, including Australia’s Race Discrimination Commissioner Giridharan Sivaraman, AHRC Chief Executive Leanne Smith, QCOSS CEO Aimee McVeigh and Open Doors Youth Service Inc. Director of Services Necho Brocchi.

The seminar will be introduced by QHRC Commissioner Debbie Platz, and the panel moderated by QHRC Deputy Commissioner Jane Vasey.

The series, which is travelling the country between April and June, focuses on how human rights can help address emerging challenges, and create a safer and more fair community.

The Brisbane event will be held from 5.30pm to 7pm at the Metro Arts, in West End. Register here.
