Master results coach and performance specialist Petris Lapis will speak about Working With Different Personalities at this year’s Queensland Law Society Minds Count Lecture to help participants understand why we are all different and the ways from which we approach life.
For the first time, the annual QLS event, which shines a spotlight on mental health in the legal profession, will be staged as a webinar on Thursday, 28 May.
Ms Lapis brings extensive experience in behavioural change, communication and performance, and supporting professionals to better understand how people think, respond and interact in the workplace.
Ms Lapis said people had different personalities, communication styles and stressors.
“Understanding the ways people are different reduces the risk of small tensions escalating into workplace well-being challenges,” she said.
“This is an opportunity to build your awareness of why others do what they do, grow empathy and understanding.
“We will explore practical things we can all do to respond differently instead of taking other people’s patterned behaviours personally, so we have more supportive inclusive workplaces.”
Ms Lapis said the webinar, from 11.45am-1pm, was designed to help participants have more tolerance towards those who did not operate the same way and to understand better why we do certain things.
“It looks at what causes distress and enjoyment for the different personality types and what we can do to make it easier for those who are different from us.”
The webinar is complimentary for QLS members. Registrations are now open. The session earns one CPD point.
As part of the Society’s ongoing commitment to supporting mental wellbeing in the legal profession, the Minds Count Lecture continues to provide relevant and practical guidance for practitioners at all stages of their career.
