The newly elected Sunshine Coast Law Association (SCLA) Committee is ready for the year ahead with a CPD event with the Honourable Chief Justice Helen Bowskill already planned for next month.
The SCLA will host Her Honour on 12 October when she speaks about advocacy principles and practice.
The event will be hosted by committee member Ben Rynderman at the Maroochy Surf Club from 5.20pm.
The SCLA held its AGM last week, with the executive committee elected as President Callum Lee, Vice-President Kylie Anderson, Secretary Michelle Close and Treasurer Alicia Lucas.
Returning committee members were Bronte Crowley, Emma Middleton, Georgia Coen, Jessica Popple, Maddison Veivers and Mala Heffernan.
New members welcomed were Chris Lumme, Emily West, Erica Zammit and John Lee.
The committee thanked Ms Heffernan, who stepped down as President after leading SCLA for the past two years.
“Mala has given an enormous amount of her time and energy to the association during her presidency, and we’re very pleased she’ll remain part of the committee,” the committee said in a social media post.
“Our thanks also go to outgoing committee members Jodie Bruce, Jayana Kerr and Pippa Colman for their contribution to SCLA.
“A special mention must go to Pippa, who has been part of the SCLA Committee for about as long as anyone can remember! Her long-standing contribution to the association and the Sunshine Coast legal community has been greatly appreciated, and while she may be stepping away from committee duties, we look forward to continuing to see her at plenty of SCLA events.
“Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time to serve on the committee. We’re looking forward to another great year of supporting and connecting the Sunshine Coast legal profession.”
