Dentons Associate Beau Foley will represent Queensland at the National Golden Gavel after winning the 2026 Queensland Golden Gavel.

The Brisbane solicitor beat six fellow competitors in a night of stand-up comedy hosted by Queensland Young Lawyers last month.

He performed the topic “Staying in your house is a privilege not a right. Regards, your friendly neighbourhood debt collector”.

Mark Goldsworthy was placed runner-up and Hamish Chapman took out both the People’s Choice award and Best Zinger.

Queensland Young Lawyers thanked the event judges, Steven Hogg (McPherson Chambers), and Peter Sams and Kirsty Gothard (both of George Street Chambers), for their time and humour.

Matthew Hendry (Denning Chambers) was event emcee.
