Queensland Government has issued new restrictions for people in Greater Brisbane in the Restrictions for Impacted Areas Direction No 3. These restrictions commence at 5pm on 29 March 2021 and conclude at 5pm 1 April 2021 applying to the Brisbane City Council, Ipswich City Council, Logan City Council, Moreton Bay Regional Council and Redland City Council areas.
Relevantly for law firms, these restrictions include:
- Law firms remain an essential service
- A person must not leave their principal place of residence unless for a permitted purpose, including to attend to work that is an essential business that can not be reasonably performed from home or to attend court or to attend a tribunal or assist in an investigation of a law enforcement authority
- A person leaving their principal place of residence must practise physical distancing of 1.5 metres to the extent reasonably practicable
- The owners or controllers of premises must take reasonable steps to encourage physical distancing of 1.5 metres to the extent reasonably practicable on the premises
- People inside of Greater Brisbane must carry a face mask at all times when outside their principal place of residence
- Face masks must be worn on public transport
- Face masks must be worn at law firms and other workplaces only if it is not possible to practise physical distancing of 1.5 metres
COVID-19 restrictions outside of Greater Brisbane
Queensland Government has issued new restrictions for people outside of the Greater Brisbane Lockdown in the Restrictions for Queensland Direction. Relevantly for law firms, this includes:
- Law firms remain an essential service
- People outside of Greater Brisbane must carry a face mask at all times when outside their principal place of residence
- Face masks must be worn on public transport
- Face masks must be worn at law firms and other workplaces only if it is not possible to practise physical distancing of 1.5 metres
