From midday 19 March 2021, all correctional centres in Queensland at stage 3 restrictions have returned to Stage 1 following Queensland Health advice.
Personal and professional visits of prisoners at all previously restricted correctional centres have resumed. The only visitor restrictions remaining relate to any person who has arrived from New Zealand on or since 6 February 2021 who did not complete a quarantine period – these visitors must provide evidence they have returned a negative COVID-19 test and been cleared by Queensland Health prior to entry being authorised.
Masks must be worn in correctional centres by visitors only where social distancing cannot be maintained, or as otherwise directed by Queensland Health. Health screening and temperature checks of approved visitors will continue.
Production of prisoners from any correctional centre for necessary in-person appearances in court will continue. Prisoners will no longer be subject to COVID-19 isolation requirements upon return to custody from court, unless advised by Queensland Health personnel.
