Queensland Law Society today welcomed the appointment of respected silk Paul Freeburn QC as a Justice of the Queensland Supreme Court Trial Division.
QLS President Elizabeth Shearer said the appointment of Justice Freeburn was a welcome addition to the Supreme Court.
“Justice Freeburn has been a long-serving and dedicated member of the legal profession and, on behalf of the profession, I congratulate him on his appointment.” Ms Shearer said. “We wish him every success in his new role on the Bench.”
Announcing the appointment, Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman said Justice Freeburn had established himself as a professional across both state and federal jurisdictions and brought a wealth of experience to the Supreme Court bench.
“Justice Freeburn QC has dedicated almost four decades of service to the legal sector and is a highly respected Queensland barrister with chambers in Brisbane,” Ms Fentiman said.
Justice Freeburn’s appointment will formally commence on 20 May.
