The Youth Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2021 received assent on 30 April 2021 and therefore amendments to the Youth Justice Act 1992 have now commenced.
The electronic monitoring provisions will be operational when the Youth Justice Regulation 2016 is amended to prescribe the areas in which those provisions will apply. The regulation amendments are well advanced and are expected to commence shortly.
