Judge Geraldine Dann has been appointed as the new Deputy President of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) for a three-year term from 26 January 2022.
Judge Dann was appointed to the District Court in 2020 after almost three decades’ experience in private legal practice, having practised as both a solicitor and barrister.
Called to the Bar in 2008, her Honour gained specialist expertise in industrial law, appearing in a number of high-profile workplace matters including acting as a junior counsel for the State of Queensland in the stolen wages class action. Previously, she practised for almost two decades as a solicitor.
QCAT President Justice Mellifont announced the appointment today, and said that Judge Dann was known for her formidable intellect, her work ethic, and her mature and wise judgment.
“These will assist her to fill the very big shoes left by Deputy President Allen QC,” Justice Mellifont said.
